Remembrance At St James and St John
This morning children from KS1 lay a wreath of poppies at the War Memorial in Akeley on behalf of the village.
The children then stood by quietly and listened while Mrs George read aloud the following:
The Exhortation.
‘’They shall not grow old,
As we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them,
Not the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
And in the morning,
We will remember them.’’
Followed by 2 minutes silence.
Mrs George then read aloud the following prayer:
Oh Lord,
As we remember those, from all over the world, who gave their lives to keep us safe, guide us in respect and tiller an e for all, that we may all spend our days in security, freedom and peace, through Jesus Christ, our lord. Amen
