Dr Michael Mortimer - Co-Opted Governor

I was appointed as a lecturer at the Open University in 1978 and retired as a Reader in Physical Chemistry in 2012. Throughout my academic career I have had wide-ranging interests in education. I have also served my local community as a member of Akeley Parish Council for which I acted as Chairperson for 22 years. Both of my sons attended Akeley Infant School. As a Governor, my focus is to support the school in its mission to ensure all children are provided with an excellent start in their educational journey.

 

LA appointed in February 2015, changed to Co-opted Governor in June 2015.

Term of office – renewal every 4 years.

No pecuniary interests.

No other governor roles in educational institutions.

No material interests arising from relationships between governors or relationships between governors and school staff.

Committees: Finance, Personnel and Pay Review; Head Teacher Appointment; Head Teacher Performance Management.

Attendance last year – Governing Body Meetings: 3/3.
