    We believe that assessment is at the heart of effective teaching and learning. Children’s progress is closely monitored at St James & St John

    C of E School in order that we can provide the best possible opportunities and highest levels of support for all children.

    Assessment takes place on a day to day basis as well as by means of evaluations and tests. Statutory Assessments include:

    • The Foundation Stage Profile

    • Year 1 Phonics Screening

    • Year 2 Phonics Screening for those who did not meet the required standard in Year 1

    • Optional for 2024 - End of Key Stage 1 SATs

    • End of Key Stage 2 SATs
