My name is Miss Dykes and I am lucky enough to be teaching Reception.

I especially enjoy planning creative, hands-on activities that encourage children to explore, discover and learn through play. Although they can sometimes be a little messy, I think these experiences often make the best memories and provide so many opportunities for learning!

One of my favourite parts of teaching Reception is getting lost in a story with the children and watching their imaginations come to life. My favourite stories to share are We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and A Squash and a Squeeze. It's hard to choose one favourite memory at St James and St John but seeing how much the children grow and progress throughout their first year of school is always top of the list. Watching their confidence develop, celebrating their achievements and seeing them become independent, enthusiastic learners is what makes Reception such a special year."
