Week 17

Friday 17th July

Hi everyone! we are! We made it to the last day of term - and what a very different end of term it is! I do so wish that we were all together enjoying our last day together as Year Five!

Although you've spent the past 17 weeks "working from home", you have all achieved great things this school year! Make sure that you take some time to look back and think about what you've done, and celebrate your achievements - no matter how small you may think they are! A big thank you for everything you've been doing at home - I've seen some brilliant work over the last few weeks, and lots of creativity!!

A big thank you also must go to your parents for standing in for me as your teachers these last few weeks (or maybe your brothers, sisters, cousins, aunties, uncles, grandparents - anyone else that has helped you from near or far!). Make sure that you thank them for everything they've done to help you!

You are all going to be brilliant moving forward in to Year Six, and I can't wait to hear all about the fantastic things you've been doing! It only seems like yesterday that you were just starting out at Chackmore in Year Three, and I am so lucky to have been a part of your journey through Key Stage Two!

I hope that you have a fantastic Summer holiday break. Make sure that you have a rest from the school work and have lots of fun whatever you may get up to this year!

I will miss you all lots - thank you for being wonderful!

Take care

Thursday 16th July

Hi everyone!

Happy Thursday - where on Earth is the week going to?! Yesterday just seemed to whizz by!

I wonder if any of you saw that it was flying ant day on Sunday? On one day each year, usually during a hot an humid spell, the flying ants leave the nest in order to go and start their own colony. This year, there were swarms of millions of ants across the country, so much so that they showed up on the weather radar as rain - mistaking the swarms for water droplets! This fact amazed me, as although I knew about flying ant day, I had never heard of them showing up as rain before on the weather reports!!

I hope that you all have a great day and I'm hoping to see a bit more of the sun today! I've recorded some more chapters of Street Child, so check those out and I'm hoping to finish reading the rest today and tomorrow. The videos will stay up throughout the Summer holidays hopefully!

Speak to you tomorrow...the last day of Year Five!

Wednesday 15th July

Hi everyone!

What's happened to the sunshine?! I thought it was going to be lovely all week! Never mind, there's still lots of fun things you can do indoors.

I went on a lovely walk yesterday thank goodness as it doesn't look like it will be so nice to go today! I wonder if any of you have been discovering any routes or footpaths that you didn't know were there before? I must get a bit more adventurous as Mrs Jolley tells me there are lots of lovely footpaths around the villages nearby.

I hope that you all have a wicked Wednesday and I will speak to you tomorrow - the penultimate day of Year Five!

Tuesday 14th July

Hi everyone!

I hope that you all had a good day yesterday and had fun with some of the activities we planned for you this week. I was sent a great picture of some tasty homemade lemonade by Ben in Year Six, and I have to say that I wish I had a looked so refreshing!

I forgot to upload the picture of our Eiffel Tower yesterday, so have a look below. We've got to find some batteries as it actually lights up! Isn't it brilliant?! I can't say that I was much help though...other than finding the missing piece that was on the floor smiley.

I hope that you all have a terrific Tuesday and I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Monday 13th July

Hi everyone! we are into the final week of being Year Five! I know I keep saying it, but I just can't believe where the time has gone! I'm sure that you're all excited for the Summer holidays, but also for stepping up to being in Year Six in September! I know that Mrs Davidson and Mrs McKenzie are looking forward to teaching you!

This week, in addition to daily Maths and an English investigation, we have planned you lots of fun Summer themed activities for you to choose from. I just wish that we were together doing fun things! There is some art and craft, cooking, writing and even a create your own sports day!

It's looking like it's going to be a lovely week so thank goodness you'll be able to do the outside activities! Hopefully I'll be able to set up and do my work outside.

I've had some great pictures in from Maisie and Anna, showing me their Eiffel Tower creations and we made a 3D Eiffel Tower puzzle at our house this weekend! Maisie said that her Eiffel Tower is even bigger than me! (I know that's not difficult!). I'll post the pictures below so you can see them too.

Have a brilliant day!
