Week 11

Friday 5th June

Hi everyone!

Happy Friday! smiley

I hope that you had a good day yesterday...I read another couple of chapters of Street Child for you and so keep a look out for those if you have been watching/listening to the story so far.

I also had a look at your TTRockstars accounts...PLEASE make sure that you are trying to complete some of this - your times tables are so important to the rest of your mathematics and you will definitely be needing speedy recall in Year Six!

I hope that you all have a lovely weekend!

Take care.

Thursday 4th June

Hi everyone!

Well I'm going to say it again...I can't believe it's Thursday already!!

I was right yesterday and didn't get to work in my lovely garden sad, but I did work in the office we have at home and I was joined by two very lazy co-workers...can you guess who it was?! (Hint: it wasn't Mr Harper he was working very hard!) There's a picture of them below to hopefully make you smile! I thought they both looked super cute!

I hope that you all have a good day today and well done for trying hard with your school work whilst you are at home...I know it's not the same as being at school and you might find it hard to concentrate with all the other fun things that are around to do. Just keep doing your best!

Take care.

Wednesday 3rd June

Hi everyone!

Happy Wednesday smiley

I had a great day yesterday working in the garden - I don't think I'll be as lucky today though! I hope that you all had a good day too.

I wonder if any of you have been following what's been happening with the crew on the International Space Station? I saw that one of the astronauts, Doug Hurley, bumped his head as he entered the ISS - where was Mrs Jolley with an ice pack when he needed her?!!

Your activities from other areas of the curriculum have been loosely based around this, and I hope that you are enjoying them!

Have a great day and I will speak to you again tomorrow.

Tuesday 2nd June

Hi everyone!

Another gorgeous morning again! I'm going to make the most of it and work outside again today. It makes me feel so much more relaxed and I'm sure I get more done too! Loving my garden at the moment!

Today marks the 67th anniversary of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. She was crowned on the 2nd June, 1953 in Westminster Abbey. Her Majesty was the thirty-ninth Sovereign to be crowned at the Abbey, the setting for every Coronation since 1066 (anyone remember anything else that happened that year?!!) Below, you can see a picture of The Queen on her Coronation day and the Gold State Coach that she travelled in pulled by eight grey horses. Thousands of people turned up to watch the procession!

I hope that you all have a great day today - don't forget hats and cream if you go out to enjoy the lovely sunshine!

Speak to you tomorrow.

Monday 1st June

Hi everyone!

Wow! I can't believe that it's June! It doesn't seem possible that it was March when we last had lessons together in our classroom! This week marks the beginning of your last half term as Year Fives!

I was listening to the radio this week and I heard that J.K.Rowling is publishing a new book, a chapter at a time, to entertain you whilst we are having to stay at home. The even more exciting bit is that she is asking you to illustrate each of the chapters too - giving suggestions for what to draw for each chapter. There is an official competition being run by her publishers (the people who print the book), for the chance to have your artwork included in the printed version of the book - to be released later this year! I've included the link below for you to take a look.

Also, I have been looking out for the International Space Station (ISS) which has been clear to see moving across the night sky, and was very excited to watch the SpaceX launch online on Saturday - I wonder if any of you saw it too? Some of our activities this week are based around this historic event.

I hope that you all have a great start to the new school half term and I'll speak to you all again tomorrow.
